Sega Master System: Power Strike & Rambo

Rambo III

Arcade style coming home to console- this games layout seems identical to Terminator 2 I played on this system; in fact, the exact array of enemies is pretty much dead nuts from that game.  This game doesn’t look any better, not any more polished, same type of generic music playing and the shooting is off.  Pretty hard to like this one.

Rambo First Blood Part II

Game opens with Stallone’s usual grimace, this time shirtless and holding a giant assault rifle;  game is a lot like Ikari Warriors, and I actually do like the shooting controls in this game, they are pretty spot on with a slight advantage going to the player.  It has that frenetic game play like that one did and it makes you want to keep trying to get farther.  Not half bad.

Power Strike

What is it about this kind of game I discovered that I like?   Flying game as the board moves up, just like in the last title, and you can get different weapons that attack different ways, energy blasts, multiple tiny ships helping you out, etc.  It’s the gameplay that kind of addicts me to this one and I play it longer than I should.

Power Strike II

The sequel trumps the original in every way; updated graphics, more enemies, more weapons to use and a crazier level layout , harder rock music, just loved everything about this game.  It’s hard as hell too, but so worth the effort.   The game is the same idea as the first, just a newer model and it’s so worth that extra price tag for the new features.

Scores:

Playability/ Controls- 7         Graphics- 5        Music/ Sound- 7.5        Replay Value- 7.5      Originality- 2    Final: 58%
